the booming construction machinery market achieved an unprecedented sales volume in 2006. David Phillips, British construction machinery Consulting Co., Ltd

in 2006, the global demand for construction machinery, mainly earthwork machinery, reached a record high of nearly 890000 units, with a total value of 76.8 billion US dollars. If we add in the benefits of product upgrading and after-sales service, the construction machinery industry has achieved a total sales of nearly $100billion. If we add the road construction and concrete machinery, lifting and hoisting equipment and other equipment currently used on the construction site, the total sales of the construction machinery industry in 2006 may reach about 130billion to 140billion US dollars

however, if we only analyze the earth rock machinery, including the most important equipment such as wheel loaders, hydraulic excavators, telescopic arm fork loaders, crawler bulldozers and dump trucks, we can also analyze some important development trends of the construction machinery industry. First of all, we can see that after 2002, the sales volume of earth rock machinery increased year by year. The performance characteristics of tensile strength testing machines increased from about 491000 in 2002 to nearly 900000 in 2006, with an increase rate of 81%. At the same time, the total sales of earthwork equipment increased by 122%, from US $34.5 billion to US $76.8 billion. From the perspective of equipment sales, the fastest growth rates are Crawler excavators (above 6T), small excavators (below 6T) and wheel loaders. They accounted for 62% of the total sales volume of earth rock machinery in 2006, significantly higher than the 53% market share in 2002. The demand for these products in all major markets, especially in China, is on the rise

in contrast, the proportion of skid steer loaders in the total sales of construction machinery decreased from 17% in 2002 to 11% in 2006, while the proportion of backhoe loaders in the global sales of construction machinery decreased from 11% to 9%

although the development of the construction machinery industry is usually measured by the equipment sales volume, sometimes it is also an important method to evaluate the equipment sales volume, because the huge price difference between different equipment may cause people to misunderstand the actual situation of the market. For example, it is difficult to make an objective comparison between a market with a large number of small excavators with a price of 30000 US dollars each and a market with thousands of dump trucks with a price of 250000 US dollars each

therefore, it is very interesting to compare the positions of different equipment fields in terms of total sales: the total sales of Crawler excavators are the highest, accounting for 30% of the total sales of global construction machinery in 2006, an increase of 3% over 2002. Wheel loaders accounted for 23% of the global total sales of construction machinery in 2006, but only 17% of the total sales

in 2002, the proportion of skid steer loaders in the total sales of construction machinery and equipment was 17%, while the proportion in the total sales was only 4%. In sharp contrast, the sales volume of 200 dump trucks in the earthquake zones of Japan and the United States in the past six years accounts for less than 2% of the total sales volume of global construction machinery, but the proportion in the total sales volume reaches 9%
